Romdeluxe Selected Series Rum No.2

Romdeluxe Selected Series Rum No.2 is a young Dominican ron from the Danish bottler's more accessible, budget-friendly Selected Series, distinct from its high-octane Wild Series. Molasses-based and column-distilled, it is aged five years in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at 41%.

The profile is light and gently sweet. The nose carries roasted notes, sweetness, vanilla and a light feel, the palate turns woody and roasted with caramel over a light body, and the finish offers wood, raisin and caramel. This is an easygoing young rum, soft and lightly sweet, where some drinkers would welcome a higher strength to give it more weight on the palate. At five years the cask has had only modest time to work, so the result stays light and gentle rather than deep. An approachable, fairly priced introduction to RomDeluxe's range and to young Dominican rum, best enjoyed without overthinking it.
