Romdeluxe Mount Gay Wild Series Rum No. 22 (Unicorn Set Vol 2) BMMG 2001

Romdeluxe, the Danish bottler known for bold single casks, presents this Mount Gay in its Wild Series, drawing on the heritage Barbados distillery that dates its deed to 1703. Distilled in 2001 and aged twenty years, this pot still cask is offered at its natural 54.8% without added sugar.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it shows a rounded, mildly wild character: banana and marzipan lead the nose alongside oak and lemon peel, the palate bringing banana, oak, vanilla and light chocolate. The finish carries oak, vanilla, chocolate and black pepper, with a pleasant tannic grip. The marzipan turning to banana progression marks it as classic Mount Gay, the two decades and full strength adding depth and structure while keeping it on the milder, more elegant side. A characterful aged single cask for slow sipping with a little air.
