A pot still Mount Gay from Denmark’s RomDeluxe Wild Series, vintage 2001 and aged 20 years in ex-bourbon oak, a cask strength single cask magnum at 56%, unsweetened with marque BMMG.
Description
Mount Gay markets itself as the world's oldest commercial rum distillery, its deed dated 1703 in St Lucy, Barbados. This independent bottling comes from RomDeluxe of Denmark, whose Wild Series is known for high-intensity, very-high-strength single casks under black and white animal labels. A 2001 vintage aged 20 years in ex-bourbon oak, bottled cask strength as a magnum at 56% without added sugar, it carries the BMMG marque from Mount Gay's pot still. Pot-led Bajan rum of this age typically shows deep toffee, ripe banana, vanilla and warm baking spice with light-to-medium oak, and the record points to a denser, oilier side with tar and ripe fruit. A full-proof, additive-free Barbados single cask in large format.
