Romdeluxe Le Galion

RomDeluxe is a Danish bottler known for high-ester, very high-strength single casks, and this Le Galion is an unaged white from the Martinique distillery, bottled unsweetened at a hefty 59.1%. Le Galion's spirit here is molasses-based, so despite the agricole framing this drinks closer to a funky traditionnel white than a cane-juice rhum.

The profile is dry, savoury and intense: fresh cane and cut grass meeting a yeasty, estery funk, green olive, herbal smoke and a bitter, hay-like finish. At nearly 60% the alcohol runs strong but stays well-behaved, comparable in spirit to a high-proof Savanna white. This is a characterful, value-minded bottling for drinkers who enjoy funky, vegetal whites neat or in robust cocktails, where its dry intensity comes into its own.
