A dry cask strength Foursquare single cask from RomDeluxe, with toasted oak, coconut, vanilla, caramel and dried fruit, a woodier, full-proof take on the island that rewards a little water at 61.1%.
Description
This Wild Series release is a RomDeluxe bottling, a 2007 vintage Foursquare aged just over fourteen years as a single cask. Foursquare is the critics' darling of Barbados under Richard Seale, double-retort pot blended with twin-column Coffey, with a strict no-additives ethos. RomDeluxe is a Danish house known for high-strength single casks, and this bottling delivers a dry, woody Foursquare at full proof.
Distilled from molasses on pot and column stills and matured in ex-bourbon oak without added sugar, it keeps the clean Bajan core while leaning into oak. The aroma carries caramel, vanilla, coconut and wood, the palate brings coconut and vanilla over dried fruit and oak, and the finish stays woody with chocolate, oak and a nutty edge. The classic toasted-oak and coconut signature is all there, drier and woodier than a finished release. It rewards some airing or a splash of water to open, a solid and well-priced cask strength Barbados that carries its 61.1% with intent.
