Description
A single cask Foursquare from the 2002 vintage at 19 years, bottled in the Collectors Series by the Danish house RomDeluxe. Foursquare is the Seale family distillery in St Philip, the additive free standard bearer of Barbados, and this is its classic dry pot and column rum carried into older age.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at cask strength, it leads with spice, orange and roasted oak on the nose, a spicy, woody, orange driven palate, and a finish of citrus, smoke and warm wood. Once given fifteen minutes to rest it shows a fruity, well rounded profile with good integration of the 53.6%. Unsweetened and balanced, a mature Foursquare that rewards a little patience in the glass.
