Description
Romdeluxe released this Diamond as No. 2 in its Collectors Series, a single cask from the 1996 vintage and twenty-five years old. The MDS marque comes off the Diamond Savalle column, the lightest and cleanest of the Guyanese stills, here showing as deep roasted coffee and chocolate rather than heavy pot funk.
Molasses based and matured in ex-bourbon oak to a dry, unsweetened finish, it is dark and inviting. The nose layers chocolate, vanilla, orange and plum over old barrel and shoe polish, the palate carries roasted coffee, dark chocolate and dried fruit, and the finish turns to honey, cappuccino and polished oak. At 50.8 percent it stays intense yet rounded, with enough strength to give the body presence. A rich, contemplative Diamond for anyone who loves the roasted, cocoa side of old Guyana.
