An unaged Guadeloupe agricole from Carrere in RomDeluxe’s Wild Series, bottled at an extreme 83%, an overproof white of explosive fresh cane, floral and grassy notes with a green, bitter-edged, hugely long finish.
Description
RomDeluxe, the Danish house behind the Wild Series of high-strength single-cask funk bombs, turned its B&W-label treatment to a Carrere agricole from Guadeloupe. Distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice on a column still and left unaged, this is the Red Cane edition, and the defining number is the strength: a raw 83% that puts it among the most extreme whites on any shelf.
With no added sugar to soften it, the cane pours out of the glass, fresh and floral and intensely grassy, before a palate that doubles down with vegetal cane and a distinct bitter, almost metallic edge. The finish goes on at length, green apple, rhubarb and bitter orange riding a wave of warmth. This is not a casual pour: at this proof it demands water and respect, and it is best understood as a concentrated study in raw agricole character for drinkers who actively seek overproof intensity.
