Ritme 2022

Ritme is made by Acustic Celler, the Priorat project of Albert Jane, working only with native varieties such as Carignan and Grenache. The D.O.Q. Priorat has a continental climate of long, hot, dry summers and cold winters, with strong temperature contrasts between day and night. The vines grow on the region's famous llicorella, a dark slate and quartzite soil that forces the roots deep in search of water and lends Priorat reds their mineral depth and grip. Those low yielding old vines on poor slate, combined with the heat, build concentration and firm structure, while the cool nights keep acidity and aromatic freshness. The wine is aged ten months in French oak barrels, where slow oxygen exchange softens the tannins and adds a little spice and toast while preserving the wild fruit. The colour is deep cherry. The nose shows wild strawberry and plum, black pepper, liquorice and a stony, mineral edge. The palate is full bodied and structured, with firm tannin, fresh acidity and a long, savoury finish. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees and decant if young. It suits grilled and roast red meat.
