Rhum J.M Étiquette Métal 2000

Rhum J.M has distilled at the far north of Martinique, on Mont Pelee terroir, since 1845, and is now part of the GBH group. This Etiquette Metal is a ten-year vintage agricole from the year 2000, made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice on a column still and aged in ex-bourbon, comfortably within the AOC XO range given its age and tropical maturation.

Bottled at 47.2% with no added sugar, it noses on vanilla, tropical fruit, wood and a clear clove note, then turns drier and spicier on the palate with wood, clove and intense baking spice, finishing on wood, spice and gingerbread. The clove-led spice is the signature here, framed by a dry, woody structure rather than any sweetness, making it characterful yet controlled at a moderate strength. A poised aged agricole for slow neat sipping, well suited to drinkers who enjoy the dry, spice-forward side of mature cane spirit.
