Rest & Be Thankful Long Pond ITP 1998

Rest and Be Thankful takes Long Pond to 23 years here under the ITP mark from the 1998 vintage, drawn as a single cask. Long Pond is the historic Wedderburn house of Trelawny, and this long-aged version trades wild hogo for mature oak and depth.

Matured in ex-bourbon wood, likely with substantial continental ageing given how the strength carries at 59.6%, it leans toward spice and structure rather than ripe fruit. Pineapple, sweet notes, citrus and vanilla open it up, then the palate brings pineapple, spice, citrus and oak, with licorice and only subtle ester funk. The finish runs citrusy, peppery and astringent. Certified unsweetened, it rewards slow sipping, and a little water opens extra layers of fruit beneath the wood. This is a drier, oak-driven Long Pond for drinkers who want mature intensity rather than in-your-face funk.
