Rennersistas Superglitzer 2022

The Renner family farm biodynamically in Gols, on the eastern shore of the Neusiedlersee in Austria's Burgenland, and the younger generation behind Rennersistas works in a natural style. Superglitzer is the happy result of an accident: a wine intended as a rosé that turned darker and bolder, bottled as a light red rather than corrected. It blends the indigenous Blaufränkisch with Rösler, Saint Laurent and Zweigelt, all grapes suited to the warm, dry, sunny climate of the region, where the large lake moderates temperatures and helps retain acidity. Made naturally, with the fruit's own yeasts and minimal additions, the wine keeps its freshness and a faint spritz of energy. The colour is pale, between a deep rosé and a light red. The nose is lifted and red-fruited, raspberry and redcurrant with the delicate spicy veil the source notes and a floral edge. The palate is light, juicy and vibrant, low in tannin and built for easy drinking. Serve at 13 to 15 degrees, chilled. It suits charcuterie, pork, lighter poultry and oily fish.
