Description
Reina de los Deseos is made by Uvas Felices, under Ramon Esteve, from old Garnacha vines in the Sierra de Gredos within D.O. Vinos de Madrid. The recovered vineyards sit at 800 metres in the mountains and are farmed to biodynamic principles, with no synthetic inputs and close attention to the soil's life. Gredos Garnacha is its own expression of the grape: decomposed granite soils and high altitude give a lighter, more perfumed and mineral style than the warm lowlands, with cool nights preserving acidity and floral aromatics across a long, even ripening. The 2025 spends fourteen months in French oak, which adds only a light frame and lets slow oxygen exchange soften the tannin while the fruit and florals stay central. It is bright ruby. The nose is wild strawberry, red currant and cherry lifted by rose, dried herbs and white flowers, with a peppery, stony edge. The palate is fresh and medium-bodied, the tannin fine and the acidity bright, carrying red fruit to a savoury, mineral finish. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, and a short chill suits it in warm weather. It works with poultry, game birds and mushrooms.
