A young ambre agricole from ReimonenQ in Guadeloupe, around eighteen months in ex-bourbon oak giving fruity, woody, tropical aromas with vanilla and a nutty roundness, gentle and approachable on a soft, spiced close at 42%.
Description
ReimonenQ is a Guadeloupe agricole distillery based at Sainte-Rose, and this Ambre Kou de Foudre is a lightly aged cane-juice rum, matured around eighteen months in ex-bourbon oak under the Guadeloupe IGP. It sits in ambre territory, beyond a blanc but well short of a vieux, aimed at easy everyday drinking.
Distilled from fresh sugar-cane juice in the house style, it shows a fruity, woody nose with tropical fruit and oak, then a softer palate of vanilla, fruit and a nutty roundness that carries into a gently spiced finish. The character is approachable rather than intense, a pleasant if light agricole where the young oak adds a little polish without much depth. Bottled at 42%, it works as an unfussy introduction to aged Guadeloupe cane rum or a mixer base, modest in ambition and honest about being an easygoing pour rather than a serious aged statement.
