A soft, round Guadeloupe agricole from ReimonenQ, distilled from fresh cane juice and rested in ex-bourbon oak, gentle and easygoing with toffee, caramel, a hint of pineapple and peppery spice at a friendly 40%.
Description
ReimonenQ is a Guadeloupe distillery working under the island's IGP, and this 2012 Cuvee Speciale is a four year agricole made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses. Bottled at a gentle 40%, it is pitched as an easy first step into Guadeloupe cane juice rum, round and approachable rather than fierce.
Four years in ex-bourbon oak softens the grassy cane edge into something mellow, bringing toffee and caramel, dried fruit and a light tropical lift of pineapple alongside warm vanilla and peppery spice. The body is light and the wood restrained, the kind of agricole that rewards a relaxed pour without demanding much focus. It works neatly as a gentle introduction to the house style and to Guadeloupe agricole more broadly, an honest everyday bottle with a little Reimonenq character of its own.
