A dry but generous Guadeloupe agricole aged nine years, fruity and woody with cigar box oak, white pepper and a minty lift, distilled from fresh cane juice and bottled unsweetened at a gentle 40%.
Description
ReimonenQ is a family agricole distillery in Guadeloupe, where rum falls under the island IGP rather than the stricter Martinique AOC, and this Cuvee Prestige carries nine years of age. Like all agricole it is distilled from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses, which is the source of its bright, vegetal character, and it is bottled unsweetened so the cane and wood speak plainly.
Nine years in ex-bourbon oak builds a fruity, woody profile around the cane core, with vanilla and leather on the nose and a peppery, slightly orange edge on the palate. The finish stays woody and spiced with a cool minty freshness that keeps it lively rather than heavy. It is an agricole that is not bone dry, carrying a round cane sweetness alongside the wood, and at a gentle 40% it drinks easily neat or with a few drops of water. A friendly step up for anyone who has enjoyed younger Guadeloupe rum and wants more depth without extra heat.
