Razel‘s Peanut Butter Rum

Razel's Peanut Butter Rum is built to be exactly what its name promises: a heavily flavoured, sweet rum that drinks like dessert. The molasses base is essentially a vehicle here, carrying a rich peanut butter character at a soft 38.1%, so this belongs with the liqueur end of the shelf rather than with aged sipping rum.

The nose is pure peanut and peanut butter, syrupy and sweet, and the palate piles on more peanut, vanilla and peanut butter with plenty of sugar. The finish turns creamy, with toffee and a touch of salt rounding it off. There is no pretending this is a serious dram, and it does not try to be. It shines as a fun pour over ice, poured over ice cream, or stirred into sweet, indulgent cocktails where its salty-sweet nuttiness is the whole point.
