A twelve year old Rammstein bottling finished in cognac casks by the Danish house 1423, rich with dried fruit, butterscotch and allspice over a clear cognac thread, a warming molasses rum bottled at 46%.
Description
This is the third limited edition in the Rammstein line, a molasses rum bottled by the Danish house 1423 and built from both pot and column distillate. Twelve years of age and a cognac cask finish shape the character, with bottling at 46% under the band's familiar branding.
The cognac influence is the headline, lending a grape led richness that runs through aroma and palate alike. The nose offers cognac, caramel and a warming spice, while the palate turns to dried fruit, allspice and butterscotch with the cognac still clearly present. The finish stays woody and spiced, allspice and dried fruit closing on a note of chocolate. It is a fuller, dessert leaning style where the wine cask does much of the talking, a comfortable winter pour for those who enjoy the meeting of aged rum and cognac oak.
