An Isle of Raasay distillery bottling from the Special Release and bottled at 52%. 9000 bottles in all. Raasay is a young Hebridean distillery, the first ever to legally distil on the Isle of Raasay. The Italian built stills nod to the distillery's continental leanings in cask choice.

Distilled in Italian built copper stills, a lantern wash still and a swan neck spirit still, the make carried a blackberry fruit from its long fermentation. A sherry cask laid raisin and walnut over the bright distillate. Without an age statement, it is fresh, vibrant and cask forward. Virgin oak and first fill casks layer vanilla and spice over the bright distillate. Every bottle is natural in colour and free of chill filtration. The Na Sia single casks let drinkers taste each thread of the six cask recipe. A population of around 160 makes Raasay one of Scotland's smallest distilling islands.

At a natural 52% it is bold and full. The Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry bring raisin, date, fig and walnut. It is lively and deep, the cask and fruit well matched. The finish is deep, spiced and rounded. This is a characterful young malt made wholly on its island.
