A distillery release of Isle of Raasay and bottled at 46.4%. Raasay is a young Hebridean distillery, the first ever to legally distil on the Isle of Raasay. Every drop is distilled, matured and bottled on the island, using water from a Celtic Iron Age well.

Distilled in Italian built copper stills, a lantern wash still and a swan neck spirit still, the make carried a blackberry fruit from its long fermentation. Maturation in a Bordeaux cask brought dark berry fruit and a soft tannin. With no age statement, it shows the bright, fruit driven style of a young island malt. The cool, damp island air gives a gentle maturation close to the sea. Long five day fermentations coax a sweet blackberry note from the wash. The Italian built stills give the new make its clean, fruity backbone. R&B Distillers set out to build a leading artisan distillery from a blank sheet.

At 46.4% it is clean and vibrant. The wine cask adds blackberry, plum and a red berry lift over a gentle wisp of peat. The texture is bright and juicy, the fruit lifted by the cask. The finish runs sweet, spiced and lively. This is the first legal single malt of the Isle of Raasay.
