RA Rum (Rockley Style) 2000 is an aged Barbados single cask bottled by Rum Artesanal in Germany, a respected house in the unsweetened full proof tradition. Rockley denotes a smoky, honeyed, medicinal style of WIRD distillate rather than a literal still, and at 21 years old this is a gentle, mature take on it.
Distilled on a pot still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, then bottled unsweetened at a moderate 47.1%, it leans on honeycomb, smoky wood, herbs and dried fruit, with a beeswax undertone and a long, spicy, minty finish. The reduced strength makes it notably soft and easy for its age, less a challenge than a relaxed, characterful sipper.
