Pusser‘s Rum British Navy

Pusser's Rum British Navy is a navy style blend bottled at 42%, drawing on Demerara rum from Guyana in the tradition of the old Royal Navy ration. It carries plenty of heritage and a molasses heavy character, though it splits opinion on how well it delivers in the glass.

The nose is the strongest part, molasses with clove, a faint green apple lift and the rich caramel and toffee that good Demerara stock tends to bring, raisin and coffee included. The palate is where it falls short for some, reading thin and diluted with a bitter, sappy edge and a molasses backbone that does not fully carry. The finish is short and tinged with molasses. It is a serviceable navy rum with a recognisable Demerara core, at its best in the kind of robust mixed serves the style was made for rather than as a neat sipper.
