Description
Por Tí is a red from D.O. Jumilla made by the Luzón winery, blending 80 percent Monastrell with 20 percent Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are around 50 years old and sit at 650 metres above sea level, where altitude tempers Jumilla's heat and the cold nights preserve acidity and aromatic freshness in the ripe fruit. The grapes are picked by hand into small 10 to 15-kilogram boxes to avoid damage, then selected before vinification. Monastrell brings depth, dark fruit and firm structure, while Cabernet Sauvignon adds backbone and a cassis-like lift. The wine ages eighteen months in French and American oak, a long stay that softens the tannins through slow oxygen exchange and adds spice, vanilla and a cocoa edge. The colour is deep and dark. The nose shows ripe plum and blackberry with black pepper, liquorice and oak-derived vanilla and cocoa. The palate is full and warming at 15 percent alcohol, with ripe tannins and a long, spiced finish. Serve at 17 degrees, decanting if young. It is a natural partner for grilled and roasted red meats.
