Podere Giodo, the Tuscan project of consultant Carlo Ferrini, makes La Quinta from Sangiovese under IGT Toscana. Six months in barrel, six in amphora and six in bottle give cherry, red berry and a tobacco-tinged earthiness. A polished, savoury Tuscan red.

Description
Podere Giodo is the personal project of Carlo Ferrini, one of Italy's most respected oenologists and a central figure in the Chianti Classico 2000 replanting work that reshaped how Sangiovese is grown in Tuscany. La Quinta is Sangiovese bottled as IGT Toscana, drawing on Ferrini's deep reading of the grape: its high acidity, firm tannin and transparency to site. The wine follows an unusual ageing path, six months in barrel, six months in clay amphora and six months in bottle before release. The barrel adds a measured cedar and spice through slow oxygen exchange, while the neutral amphora rounds the texture and preserves the fresh red fruit and floral character without oak flavour, the two vessels balancing structure against freshness. Expect an intense ruby red, a refined nose of cherry and red berries, dried herbs, tobacco and a clean earthy note, and a palate that is elegant and structured with bright acidity, fine tannins and a long, savoury finish. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees and decant 30 to 60 minutes ahead. A natural match for Tuscan meat and mushroom dishes.
