Planteray Land Selection 12YR (Warehouse #1)

Planteray, the rum brand of Maison Ferrand formerly known as Plantation, bottled this Land Selection from Warehouse #1, a Trinidad single cask aged twelve years. It reflects the island's lighter, cleaner style rather than the heavy Caroni archetype, and as a Ferrand release dosage is part of the house approach, so it is a gently sweet pour rather than a purist's dry single cask.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak from molasses, it shows dried fruit, ripe fruit and barrel on the nose, then fruity, dried-fruit and winey notes on the palate, closing short with dried fruit and wine. At 46.6% it is pleasantly sweet and approachable, with noticeable spice and a wine-like aroma running through, the body light and the finish brief. A soft, fruit-led, lightly sweetened Trinidad sipper for easy drinking rather than for those seeking weight or length.
