A multi-island blend from Plantation, aged six years across the Caribbean then double-aged by Maison Ferrand in France with a Pineau des Charentes cask finish, bottled at 41.1%.
Description
This Plantation release from Maison Ferrand blends rum from several Caribbean islands, combining pot and column-still spirit and carrying a six year age statement before the house's signature second ageing in France, here finished in casks that held Pineau des Charentes, the sweet Cognac-region aperitif.
Maison Ferrand works in an approachable, cocktail-friendly register and openly uses dosage, so this is a soft, rounded style rather than a dry purist bottling. Expect vanilla, caramel and dried fruit from the double ageing, lifted by the grape-sweet, faintly nutty character the Pineau cask tends to lend, an easy, dessert-leaning sipper at a gentle 41.1%.
