Pirates Collection Francois l’Ollonais Agricole Rhum

Pirates Collection Francois l'Ollonais Agricole is a cane juice rum carrying a twenty year age claim, the older and slightly stronger sibling in this themed range of aged agricoles. Matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at 46%, it gives the cane spirit two decades to deepen.

The nose is the dark, dessert side of agricole, dried fruit, chocolate, cocoa and caramel rather than fresh grass, while the palate turns syrupy and woody with allspice. The finish reads simply sweet. As an agricole the style does not permit added sugar, so the richness should be down to long tropical leaning maturation and the cask rather than dosage. At 46% it carries a little more grip than its forty percent stablemates, making it a fuller, more brooding aged agricole for sipping slowly.
