Pierfabio Mastronardi set up his estate in 2017 in the hills between the Murgia and the Valle d'Itria in Puglia, working the land with a close eye on local tradition. This white is a blend led by Falanghina alongside other native grapes, farmed organically and made as a natural wine with minimal intervention in the cellar. That approach means gentle handling, native yeasts and little correction, so the wine reflects its site and season directly. The Valle d'Itria is a cooler, higher pocket of southern Italy, and that elevation keeps acidity fresh in an otherwise warm climate, giving a lively wine of twelve and a half percent alcohol. It shows a straw-yellow colour with greenish glints. The nose is delicate and fresh, leading with green apple, pear and citrus, with white flowers and a faint herbal, thyme-like note behind. The palate is clean and direct, its orchard and citrus fruit carried by bright acidity and a light, dry finish. This is an honest, refreshing white shaped by careful farming rather than cellar technique. Serve well chilled at around 10 degrees.
