This is the Añejo 3 Años from Havana Club, the joint venture between Pernod Ricard and Cuba, a young ron aged three years in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 37.5%. It is the workhorse of the range, distilled on a column still in the classic Cuban manner.

Cuban ron ligero is blended for lightness, charcoal filtered and kept clean and approachable, the historic foundation of the daiquiri and mojito. The record points to light citrus over a spirity, neutral base, which is exactly the brief for a mixing rum. This is a cocktail spirit first and foremost, designed to lift a highball or a classic Cuban serve rather than to be sipped neat.
