Perelada makes this Empordà white from Garnacha Blanca on rocky, pebble strewn ground, the vines over fifty years old. A cool ferment with no oak keeps it bright, showing green apple, white peach and lemon over a dry, coastal minerality.

Description
Perelada makes this white in D.O. Empordà in the far north east of Catalonia, from Garnacha Blanca grown on rocky, pebble strewn ground. The vines are over fifty years old, and the low yields of old vines concentrate the fruit while the stony soil drains fast and keeps the wine lean. There is no oak here. The juice ferments at a controlled 15 degrees, a cool temperature that protects the primary fruit and holds the aromatics without adding weight, so the wine stays bright and direct. In the glass it is pale yellow. The nose leads with green apple, white peach and a squeeze of lemon, with a light floral top note. On the palate it is fresh and clean, with citrus and orchard fruit carried by crisp acidity to a dry, mineral finish that reflects the coastal Empordà site and its tramuntana wind. This is a wine built for the table and for warm weather drinking. Serve it well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It works as an aperitif and with grilled white fish, shellfish and green salads.
