Description
Pedro Parra, known as Senor Terroir, spent more than fifteen years as a soil consultant to producers around the world before making his own wines in his home city of Concepcion. Imaginador is an organic Cinsault from the Itata Valley in southern Chile, drawn from old bush vines planted on decomposed granite. The granite soils and cool, dry-farmed conditions give low yields and a wine of clear tension, freshness and stony minerality. Vinification is low intervention, and the wine is raised entirely in concrete rather than oak, which preserves the pure red fruit and adds a subtle roundness of texture while leaving the wine unmarked by wood. At 12.5 per cent alcohol it is light and fresh. The colour is a bright, light ruby. The nose leads with red berries, cherry, a floral note and an earthy, mineral edge, while the palate is light bodied and juicy, with fine tannin, lively acidity and a savoury, stony finish. Serve at 14 to 15 degrees, with a light chill in warm weather. It suits charcuterie, roast chicken and lighter vegetable dishes.
