The Caskhound bottled this Tobermory matured to 10 year old from 2015, drawn from cask 151 and bottled at 57.5%. A release of 214 bottles. Tobermory, the unpeated malt of the Isle of Mull, comes from one of Scotland's oldest distilleries. Water comes from the Gearr Abhainn, a private hill loch above the town of Tobermory.

The spirit was made in the high reflux stills from unpeated barley, for a fruity, waxy make with a green lift. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. Younger here, it keeps a fruity, oily freshness with a herbal lift. A waxy texture carries the cask flavour across long years. A rare, more heavily peated make has appeared under the name Iona, after a neighbouring isle. In dry summers the distillery has paused when its hill loch ran low. The distillery sits at the head of the bay, beneath a steep wooded hill. Both malts feed the Scottish Leader and Black Bottle blends as well as single malt.

At 57.5%, undiluted, it is rich and deep. Pear, oily malt and a green note, and the Madeira lends raisin and a caramelised nuttiness. Soft orchard fruit and wax sit behind the cask. The finish runs fruity, nutty and warm. This is the fruity side of the Isle of Mull's distillery.
