Description
This is a limited release from Patron made in partnership with Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, presented as a set of two bottles rather than a single spirit. The headline bottle holds an Extra Anejo tequila from Blue Weber agave, the category aged at least three years in oak, while a second companion liqueur completes the edition. Patron is among the best known names in 100 percent agave tequila, and this release was shaped around the brand's own themes of time and maturity.
The Extra Anejo base leans on long barrel time, so expect cooked agave folded into vanilla, caramel and toffee with toasted oak weight and the agave receding behind the wood. The paired liqueur reads sweeter and softer on the same agave foundation. Bottled at 35 percent, the set is aimed at collectors and sippers rather than mixing, a closing chapter as much as a drink.
