Patrón El Alto

Patrón El Alto represents a modern evolution of the house style, introduced to show that maturity in tequila does not have to follow a linear path. Rather than extending ageing alone, El Alto is built through blending, combining Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo tequilas to achieve balance, depth, and aromatic lift. It reflects a contemporary luxury approach, rooted in technique rather than time.

Production begins in the same way as the rest of the range, with 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the Los Altos (Highlands) of Jalisco. The agaves are slow-cooked in traditional stone and brick ovens, extracted using a combination of tahona and roller milling, fermented openly, and double distilled in copper pot stills. Each component tequila is aged separately before blending, allowing precise control over texture and flavour.

Maturation takes place across American and French oak barrels, with the younger reposado element providing freshness and structure, while the older añejo and extra añejo components contribute depth, spice, and softness. Despite containing older tequila, El Alto is classified as a Reposado under Mexican regulations due to the final blend composition.

On the nose, El Alto shows cooked agave, vanilla, toasted oak, and citrus, followed by hints of baking spice and gentle sweetness. The palate is rounded and layered, offering richness without weight, finishing clean and composed. Bottled at 40% ABV, it sits between Añejo and Extra Añejo in feel, offering a deliberate alternative to extended ageing.
