Patrón Anejo

Patrón Añejo reflects the point at which the brand’s approach to ageing fully comes into focus. Developed as part of the early expansion of the Patrón range in the years following its 1989 launch, Añejo was created to show that tequila could take on extended maturation without losing its sense of place or raw material. Rather than chasing intensity, the goal was integration and balance.

As with the rest of the range, production begins with 100% Blue Weber agave from the Los Altos of Jalisco, slow-cooked in traditional stone and brick ovens. Extraction via tahona and roller milling is followed by open fermentation and double distillation in copper pot stills, producing a clean, structured base spirit designed to age gracefully.

Patrón Añejo is aged for approximately 12 months in American oak barrels, allowing deeper oak influence to develop while still respecting the underlying agave character. The longer maturation introduces notes of caramel, toasted wood, and soft spice, but avoids excessive tannin or sweetness.

Aromatically, it shows cooked agave, vanilla, light caramel, and dried citrus, with hints of oak spice and gentle pepper. The palate is smooth and layered, offering warmth and depth without becoming heavy, finishing clean with lingering agave and oak. Bottled at 40% ABV, Patrón Añejo stands as a composed, elegant expression that completes the core Patrón story, a progression from clarity, through balance, to maturity.
