Sara i René make this natural, organic Garnacha rosé in D.O.Q. Priorat, aged twelve months in wood. Pale orange in hue and savoury in style, it shows spicy, smoky aromas, red berry fruit and a textured, dry finish.
Description
Partida Pedrer Rosat is made by Sara Pérez and René Barbier, the couple behind Sara i René Viticultors, both children of figures who helped restore Priorat to prominence. It is a natural and organic rosé made from Garnacha Tinta in the steep, low yielding D.O.Q. Priorat, where the celebrated llicorella soils of decomposed slate and quartz force the vine to dig deep and concentrate the fruit, while the warm climate pushes ripeness to 14.5 percent alcohol. The wine spends twelve months in separate wood containers, an extended barrel ageing that softens the structure, allows gentle oxygen exchange and builds a savoury, textured character well beyond a simple young rosé. Minimal intervention and natural winemaking leave the wine with grip and complexity. It pours an alluring pale orange hue, closer to a skin-touched rosé than the pale Provençal style. The nose is spicy and smoky with red berries, dried herbs and a touch of orange peel. The palate is dry and savoury, with cherry fruit, black pepper and a firm, textured finish. Serve lightly chilled at 11 to 13 degrees. It partners roast pork, grilled poultry, oily fish and mushroom dishes.
