Description
Partida Bellvisos Blanc is a natural, organic white from Sara i René Viticultors, the small Gratallops project run by Sara Pérez of Mas Martinet and René Barbier of Clos Mogador, deep in the D.O.Q. Priorat. Priorat's signature is llicorella, a dark slate and quartzite soil that forces vine roots down through the rock for water and stamps the wines with a firm mineral character. The blend of Macabeo and Garnacha Blanca is farmed organically and made with minimal intervention, then aged for 14 months in 500-litre French oak barrels. The larger format and the long élevage give slow, gentle oxygen exchange and extended lees contact, which build texture and a savoury complexity rather than overt oak. It shows a floral bouquet with a delicate mushroomy, forest-floor note that reflects the natural winemaking and the ageing. The palate is dry and textured, with white peach, pear and almond over beeswax, toasted bread and a fennel edge, closing on slate-driven minerality. Serve at 11 to 13 degrees in a large glass.

Additional information
Its savoury, faintly mushroomy character makes it a fine match for wild mushroom risotto, roast chicken or grilled white fish. The oak and lees weight also stands up to hard, nutty cheeses and richer fish such as monkfish.
