Papa Rouyo is a Guadeloupe distillery working from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice, sitting under the island's IGP rather than the Martinique AOC. This Tanmpo is a 2021 release aged three years and finished in ex-armagnac casks, bottled at 44.4%.
Young tropical ageing keeps the spirit fresh while the armagnac finish adds an unusual twist. Expect a grassy, vegetal cane core picking up grape, dried fruit and a brandy-like roundness from the armagnac casks, with the still character coming through. At 44.4% it is approachable yet distinctive. A characterful young agricole for drinkers who enjoy where cane-juice rum meets French brandy casks.
