Papa Rouyo is a young Guadeloupe distillery working a double-retort pot still, and this VWAYAJ is a 2022 white agricole pressed from fresh sugarcane juice, bottled at a polished 45% and unsweetened. It shows the house style in a fresh, approachable, citrus-driven form.

Distilled on the double-retort pot still, the classic heavy aromatic configuration, and left unaged, it keeps a clean cane character with a touch more body than a column blanc. The nose is fresh and grassy with sugarcane, lime and a vegetal edge, the palate is round and vegetal with sugarcane and lemon, and the finish stays on sugarcane, citrus and a light spice. There is a pleasing roundness and a faint hint of the sea that lifts it beyond a simple white. At 45% it is gentle for a blanc, making it easy to enjoy neat, and it makes a refined, grassy Ti' Punch.
