Pampero Aniversario is a Venezuelan rum from Licorero del Centro, made in the smooth, accessible Spanish-style ron tradition that runs through the country's protected rum culture. It is a molasses spirit distilled on a column still, the lighter, cleaner configuration where the cask and any additions shape most of the flavour rather than the distillate itself.

The profile is comforting and soft: caramel, vanilla and chocolate with a touch of wood and spice on the finish. It is a sweetened rum and drinks rounded and easy at 40%, without much depth to dig into, which is no criticism of what it sets out to be.
