Description
The 2022 Artist Edition reposado from Padre Azul, a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila produced at Tres Mujeres in the Amatitán valley of Jalisco. The line carries the house signature of distiller Erika Sangeado, and this release was made with women across the project, from agave to artwork by Laura Garcia Rulfo, with the run held to 3000 bottles.
The headline is the double maturation. The spirit rests roughly six months in one ex-bourbon American oak cask, then two further months in a second ex-bourbon barrel for a final lift. Aromas run to peach, yellow apple and cooked agave with a light chocolate note, while the palate is rounded and balanced, soft chocolate and apple over woody and caramel barrel tones. Bottled at 40% in the lowland Valles style, polished and easy rather than rustic.
