Description
Padre Azul Extra Anejo is the long aged top of the Padre Azul range, a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila made at the Tres Mujeres distillery in the Amatitan valley, in the Jalisco lowlands, by a team of women including distiller Erika Sangeado. It is built to be complex yet approachable, an oak led extra anejo aimed at both newcomers and experienced drinkers.
The agave is harvested by hand at eight to ten years and cooked in stone ovens before distillation, then the tequila rests thirty six months in former bourbon casks, well past the three year extra anejo minimum, which gives it both colour and its barrel character. Long aging puts the wood in front, so oak, preserved fruit, chocolate, spice and honey merge into a rounded, refined profile with the agave settled to the mid palate. Bottled at 40%.
