Description
Padre Azul Añejo Single Barrel is a 100% Blue Weber tequila made at Tequila Tres Mujeres in the Amatitan valley of Jalisco, distilled under one of the few women maestras in the category, Erika Sangeado. Rather than blending many casks, the contents of individual 200 litre ex-bourbon barrels from Four Roses were bottled on their own, so each release carries its own colour and character. Every bottle is hand signed and numbered.
The agave is steam cooked, then the spirit rests 24 months in American oak, well into añejo territory. That time shows as gold colour and a nose of cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, dried apricot and cinnamon, with the palate following into vanilla, clear oak, apricot and caramel over the agave base. Bottled at 40%, it is a soft, barrel led sipping añejo.
