Description
Padre Azul Anejo Artist Edition 2021 is a 100% Blue Weber tequila bottled by the Austrian and Mexican Padre Azul house, produced in the Amatitan valley of Jalisco. This numbered limited release wraps the spirit in artwork by Mexican painter Jose Parra, whose Calavera Catrina honours the Dia de los Muertos tradition, so the bottle is as much of the appeal as the liquid.
The agave is steam cooked in the lowland manner and the anejo is matured eighteen months in hand selected oak casks. That long rest pushes barrel character forward, giving aromas of coffee, burnt caramel, vanilla and caramelised nuts that open onto dried cherry and apricot. The palate stays balanced, with vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon and dried fruit over a still sweet agave base, closing long and soft at 40%.
