Description
Paco & Lola Prime is an Albariño from the Paco & Lola cooperative in the Salnés Valley, the coolest and most maritime part of Rías Baixas in Galicia. Albariño is the native grape here, thick-skinned and high in acidity, which suits a damp, Atlantic-influenced climate where sea breezes and cloud keep temperatures moderate and preserve freshness. This bottling is aged on its lees after fermentation, and the extended contact builds a rounder texture and a light savoury depth while leaving the wine's cut intact. At 12.5 percent it stays bright and drinkable. The colour is pale lemon with green tints. The nose is aromatic, led by ripe white peach with candied-fruit and citrus lift, and a subtle lees background adds complexity. The palate is fresh and saline, with stone fruit and lemon carried on brisk acidity and a fuller mid-palate from the lees, closing long and clean with a briny edge. Serve well chilled at 9 to 11 degrees.
