Description
Paco & Lola is a young cooperative founded in 2005 in Meaño, Pontevedra, in the Atlantic heartland of DO Rías Baixas. With more than 400 members and over 200 hectares split across some 1,800 small plots, it draws Albariño from a broad spread of vineyards in O Salnés, close to the ocean. This is a cool, wet, maritime region, and the Albariño grape carries high natural acidity and thick skins that hold up to the damp, giving wines that are aromatic and briny at once. The vines are trained high on the traditional pergola system that lifts the fruit for airflow in the humid climate. Fermentation is cool and clean in stainless steel to keep the aromatics fresh and the profile precise. The colour is bright yellow with greenish glints. The nose is vibrant, with green apple and citrus fruit of lemon and grapefruit lifted by subtle spring flowers. The palate is crisp and fresh, with white peach, citrus and a clear saline note through a clean finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It is built for the seafood of the Galician coast.
