Description
Oxenham is a Mauritian distillery, and this Bougainville Lemongrass is a flavoured rum built on a pot-still molasses base at 40%. The pot still is worth noting, as it gives a fuller, more characterful base than a light column spirit, though the lemongrass infusion leads the glass.
Expect a green, citrus-herbal lemongrass character over a soft molasses base. As a flavoured rum it is sweeter and more aromatic than a neat agricole, and it shines in cocktails, especially a mojito or other lemongrass-leaning long drinks. A fragrant mixing rum rather than a contemplative pour.
