Oliver & Oliver built its name marrying Caribbean rums into the smooth, dessert leaning Spanish style, and this Presidente Marti carries a 19 year billing on the label. The base is a light column still molasses spirit, the clean foundation the style relies on, bottled at a gentle 40% with the rounded sweetness these rums are known for.

The nose is inviting, with cocoa, almond, leather and dried apricot over sweet molasses, and the palate turns to raisin, caramel and a richer intensity before chocolate, blackberry, a hint of smoke and a cereal note close things out. Tasters consistently read a sweetened, post dosed character here, so it is best taken as a soft, fruit and chocolate sipper rather than a dry aged dram.
