Old Brothers FWI (Old Bajan Rum)

Old Brothers bottled this young Foursquare under its Old Bajan Rum label, a four year old from Richard Seale's St Philip distillery. It is a single blended Barbados rum, pot and column in the island style, bottled without added sugar, and although youthful it already carries plenty of the recognisable house character.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it leans bright and fruity, with pineapple, fruitcake, papaya and marmalade on the nose and a palate of raisin, coconut, oak and a green pepper edge. The finish returns to dried fruit, coconut and pineapple with a roasted note. At 47.6% the strength is judged well, intense enough to show the fruit while staying relaxed and drinkable. This is a tropical, coconut-and-pineapple Bajan that delivers the Foursquare signature young and at a fair price, a tidy everyday sipper.
