Old Brothers FWI (Old Bajan Rum)

Old Brothers is a French independent, and this Old Bajan Rum draws on Foursquare, the Barbados distillery known for its strict no-additives stance and its pot and column blends. Bottled at four years old and 47.1%, it is a young, unsweetened expression of the island's signature distillate.

The molasses spirit, matured in ex-bourbon oak, shows fresh wood, light roast and coconut on the nose, with a faint tobacco and berry edge. The palate is round and balanced with an oily weight that belies its age, the finish turning spicy, fruity and lightly smoky. Even at a modest four years it carries the clean, balanced character that makes Foursquare distillate so well regarded, an honest, additive-free pour that shows what good Bajan spirit can offer early, before long oak takes over.
